What’s changing
The new release exposes a new metadata format for named and project environments.
To upgrade, follow the instructions for your preferred method here.
Check that you’re running v0.0.8 by running flox --version.
Then, run flox upgrade to upgrade your default environment.
You will be prompted to do so, and once you accept, the upgrade will convert the metadata format. Run flox edit to see it in action, and check out the documentation here.
This new format allows us (and you!) to leverage the environment metadata file as a Nix expression, which provides some advantages that will become apparent in future releases.
